Academy graduate Forbes signed his first professional contract at the club in the summer of 2018 after impressing for the club’s under-19s side and while on loan at Newcastle Benfield.
Forbes returned to the Heed ahead of the 2019/20 season for his second season in professional football and made the successful transition from midfield to become a key part of Mike Williamson’s defence.
Forbes was one of a number to re-sign ahead of the 2021/22 season, but was forced to miss the majority of Gateshead’s title-winning campaign due to injury.
The defender spent the early portion of the 2022/23 season on loan at Spennymoor Town, where he made eight appearances before being recalled in November, and departed Gateshead in January 2024 after spending the first half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Blyth Spartans.
