Midfielder
Acting as Gateshead’s captain and current longest serving player, Olley has racked up over 200 appearances and lifted both the National League North title and Isuzu FA Trophy in black and white.
Olley first signed for the Heed after a successful trial in 2018/19 which saw him score five goals in one and a half matches. The midfielder agreed a new one-year deal with the club in July 2019, recording a club-leading tally of 15 assists as well as netting seven goals during the 2019/20 season.
Olley was one of a number of players to re-sign for the ill-fated 2020/21 season, and would sign on for the club once again just seven appearances shy of a century for the 2021/22 campaign.
Olley was named club captain in July 2021 and is the club’s longest-serving current player with over a century of appearances in black and white.
His first season as captain saw him record 28 assists in all competitions as Gateshead lifted the Vanarama National League North title, and Olley was also named in the division’s Team of the Season.
The midfielder penned a contract extension during the 2021/22 season until the summer of 2024 and made history once again during the 2022/23 campaign by becoming the first captain to lead the club to the FA Trophy final, and second to appear at Wembley Stadium. Olley made 48 appearances that season, scoring eight goals and recording 18 assists in all competitions.
Olley notched his 200th appearance for the club during the 2023/24 season, adding 28 games to his tally in total despite missing several months of the season through injury.
The skipper returned to help his side finish in the National League play-off places for the first time since 2014, as well as banishing the memories of 2023’s FA Trophy final defeat by lifting the trophy one year on at Wembley Stadium, and becoming the first Gateshead captain to win under the arch in the process.
