Butterfield joined Gateshead in July 2024, signing a one-year deal with an optional extension available at the club’s discretion.
The central midfielder has racked up over 300 appearances in the Championship across spells with a number of clubs before recently spending two seasons with Scunthorpe United in the National League and National League North.
