Goalkeeper
The goalkeeper joined for the final two months of the season in March 2022, re-joining the club for the third time after previously signing in 2017 and 2020, lifting the National League North title at the end of the 2021/22 season.
Montgomery made 21 appearances following Gateshead’s return to the National League the following season, including one at Wembley Stadium in the FA Trophy final.
The fan favourite departed at the end of the season having made 72 appearances across three spells on Tyneside, before returning on a one-month loan from Spennymoor Town in February 2024.
Montgomery made a further eight appearances during his one-month loan, and then returned on a short-term deal until the end of the 2023/24 season after his release from Spennymoor, which saw him appear in his second FA Trophy final in as many seasons and lift silverware after helping Gateshead to a penalty shoot-out win under the Wembley arch.
