Lofthouse joined on loan from EFL League One side Barnsley in September until January 2024.
The wing-back – who is also adept as a winger and in central midfield – joined Barnsley in the summer after spending three seasons with Woking.
The 23-year-old made over 100 appearances in all competitions for The Cardinals, and has played three times for Barnsley following his move ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Lofthouse went on to make 17 appearances on Tyneside, scoring one goal and recording seven assists while becoming a fan favourite before his re-call to Barnsley in January.
