We are incredibly saddened to learn of the death of former striker Paul Dobson, aged 63.
Dobson was a prolific goalscorer at Gateshead in the mid 90s, netting 25 goals in consecutive seasons to lift the National League Golden Boot in 1994 and 1995 and becoming only the fourth player in National League history to do so in the process.
The forward originally joined The Heed on loan from Darlington in February 1993, and went on to become a fan favourite on Tyneside thanks to his ruthlessness in front of goal, before departing in November 1995 to join Bishop Auckland for a transfer fee of £3,500.
Our condolences go out to Paul’s family and friends
