Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the signing of central midfielder Rocco Coyle on a two-year deal.
The 20-year-old arrives on Tyneside after spending his youth career with Premier League side Hull City, captaining the club’s U18 squad before signing his first professional contract with The Tigers in December 2023.
Coyle spent time on loan in the Enterprise National League with Boston United during the early part of the 2025/26 season, making 18 appearances across all competitions before then joining National League North side Scarborough Athletic, for whom he played 11 times before returning to his parent club.
“It’s a good feeling to be a part of the team,” said Coyle.
“It’s exciting, everyone has got that buzz about Saturday and the first game. I came in at the back end of last week to meet the gaffer and the lads, and it was very positive – as soon as I came in I knew that I was wanting to sign here.
“I’m a midfielder who stays a bit behind the ball and plays a little bit deeper, but I’m someone who can bring that calmness and quality, and out of possession get stuck in. I feel like I can adapt and really do well for this team, and hopefully as a team do well as well.”
Welcome to Gateshead, Rocco!
Subject to National League & FA approval.
