Ryan Wombwell scored twice as his Morpeth Town side thrashed Lancaster City 6-3 at Craik Park on Tuesday night.
The defender struck first in the 45th minute to put Morpeth 3-1 up on the night, before adding his second and their sixth on 67 minutes.
Fellow loanee Connor Pani was introduced as a 72nd minute substitute as The Highwaymen saw out their commanding lead to move up to 10th in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
“It was a good game,” Wombwell told Morpeth Town’s official YouTube channel.
“We probably lost concentration towards the end which wasn’t what we wanted, but we’d already done the business by then being a few goals up so we were allowed to relax a little bit.
“I thought [Lancaster] were quite sharp, they were all over the pitch picking up second balls and they played quite direct, but I think we cancelled that out a little bit.
“We were electric going forward and the six goals showed for that.
“Me and Jack [Foalle] have linked up well in the last few games that we’ve played together.
“I know he likes to run in behind, but when he comes inside I can get around the outside of him, so I think we work well and it allows me to get forward and join in.
“When we got the free kick I thought about going on that, I thought it was a penalty, but I wasn’t really thinking about [the hat-trick] to be honest!”
Elsewhere, Tom Allan was in action for Spennymoor Town in the Vanarama National League North away to early pace-setters AFC Fylde on Tuesday night.
Rob Ramshaw and Glen Taylor put The Moors two ahead going into the final 10 minutes, only for a late double – including a dubious Nick Haughton penalty – to salvage a draw for the home side.
Allan and fellow loanee Elliot Forbes made their debuts for Spennymoor away to Farsley Celtic last Saturday, with Jason Ainsley’s side rescuing a 2-2 draw late on at The Citadel.
Former Gateshead midfielder Danny Greenfield struck first from 25 yards to pull one back with three minutes to go, before Taylor netted from the penalty spot to earn The Moors a point.
Eddie Thomas, Kyle Errington and Lewis Leech were all in action as Newcastle Benfield secured a 3-1 win over Crook Town in the Northern League on Saturday.
Errington and Leech made the starting 11 at Sam Smith’s Park, while Thomas was introduced as a second half substitute and netted on 84 minutes to put Benfield ahead against his old club.
