Defender / Coach
Storey returned to Gateshead for the second time as a player-coach under Rob Elliot in January 2026.
Storey made the joint-highest appearances in Gateshead’s title-winning 2021/22 campaign after arriving from Hebburn Town in June 2021, playing 50 times as his first season on Tyneside was capped with silverware.
The defender played a key role in securing National League safety the following season, making 37 appearances in all competitions as The Heed also reached the FA Trophy final for the first time, with Storey making his second appearance at Wembley Stadium in the process.
Storey was named as interim assistant manager to Rob Elliot in October 2023, following the departures of Mike Williamson, Ian Watson and Chris Bell, and played 42 games across a campaign which saw Gateshead finish sixth in the National League as well as winning the 2024 Isuzu FA Trophy, with Storey scoring in the penalty shoot-out at Wembley.
He was then named as the club’s permanent assistant manager in June 2024, putting pen to paper alongside Rob Elliot, and enjoyed a successful first half of the season with Gateshead firmly in the play-off positions before departing to take up a role with Crawley Town in October 2024.
Storey then returned to Tyneside in January 2026, re-uniting with Elliot and taking on his role as player-coach in the North East once more.
