Tinkler re-joined the club for a third time in June 2021 following two spells during the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons, during which he made a total of 65 appearances and scored two goals.
Tinkler reached 100 appearances for the club in March 2022 and made 45 appearances during the 2021/22 season as Gateshead lifted the Vanarama National League North trophy, before extending his contract until the summer of 2024.
The defender was ever-present in The Heed’s first season back in the fifth tier, making 45 appearances and earning one Player of the Month award in the process, before playing 26 times during the following campaign, which saw Tinkler and his team-mates lift the 2024 Isuzu FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium.
